I care about the details. I want to know, or at least believe, I'm getting the best product or deal for the money spent. I research, analyze and plan meticulously... which certainly has both its benefits and consequences. The benefits are the end results (satisfaction, piece of mind, quality, value, product knowledge, etc)... and the consequences are experienced while getting there (hours applied, over analyzing, procrastination, etc). But the way I approach such things is part of my DNA... so I couldn't change it, even if I wanted to.
So, for my film-making equipment kit, what have I acquired and why? There will be a Youtube video covering this soon, but let me start here with the basics. 1st and most importantly, I identified what I wanted to produce and how - this is essential before investing in relative equipment and software. And here it must be stated... any equipment, now matter how great or professional, is redundant without creative vision and the ability to apply the equipment. The primary goal is to create and produce short films, while also executing interviews, vlog videos, family projects and perhaps longer films. And I want to personally understand and contribute to every aspect of the film-making process. I definitely have creative vision and know how to write, and this is my proven strength. But although I possess some film-making pre-production, production and post-production knowledge and skills, they certainly vary in education and capability depending on each particular facet. For example, I'm comfortable with Adobe Premier Pro in order to achieve relative satisfactory post-production results, but I am far from a camera or audio equipment expert. And this is where I applied much of my research time. Next week I will address the 'why' of the equipment I have acquired, but for now... here's the actual list: Recently Acquired Equipment Camera: DSLR Panasonic Lumix DMC-G85M Monitor: Lillput A7s Full HD 7" Monitor with 4k Camera Assist Audio Recorder: Sound Devices MixPre-3 II Shotgun Microphone: Deity V-Mic D3 Pro (location kit) Lavalier Microphone: RodeLink Filmmaker Kit Wireless Digital Omni Transmitter & Receiver Lenses Four Thirds: Panasonic Lumix 12-60mm & Panasonic Lumix 45-150mm Lenses Prime: Canon 50mm & Fotasy Lens Adapter (for use with DSLR Camera) Tripod: E-Image model EG01A2 Stabilizer AKA Steadicam: FLYCAM Redking Quick Balancing Video Camera Stabilizer Stabilizer: Fantaseal Handheld Stabilizer Boompole: Rode Mini Boompole Lights: GVM 2 Pack LED Video Lighting Kits with App Control 2300k - 6800k Microphone Stand: Hola!
